### UK Legal Aid Agency: 2025 breach also took ~250,000 pre-2007 records, oldest from 1978, plus probation data

In an Oct 14 update on the April 2025 cyberattack, the Legal Aid Agency said further analysis shows roughly 250,000 exfiltrated records predate 2007, mostly from the 1990s and 2000s, with the earliest verified record from 1978 (benefit-status assessments, 1978–2012, can include name, date of birth, National Insurance number and address). Most stolen data covers January 2007 to 16 May 2025. The agency also found HM Prison and Probation Service data (names, dates of birth, nationalities, case references for offenders supervised mainly in 2016–2017) in the same theft; none relates to victims of crime. The LAA says it has no indication the data has been published or shared.
