TFG London cyber incident takes down IT systems at Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles

The Foschini Group told shareholders in a JSE SENS filing on Oct 13 that its UK business, TFG London, found a cybersecurity incident on Oct 11 affecting IT systems for its Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles brands. Inside Story and White Stuff were not affected. Stores stayed open and trading, but several IT systems (and, per the company's statement to the BBC, some website functions) were unavailable. TFG brought in outside specialists, reported the incident to UK authorities, and is still working out whether personal or other sensitive data was taken. In a customer email reported by PA, TFG said it did not believe payment information was affected. TFG Africa and TFG Australia run on separate systems and were not affected. No group has been confirmed behind it.
