### Nikkei: stolen credentials for a development cloud led to about 1.83 million personal-data records leaking; TV Tokyo says its users may be included

Nikkei Inc. announced on Oct 16 that a cloud service it uses for system development was accessed in the early morning of Oct 7 with authentication credentials that had been stolen by unknown means. About 150,000 records contain a name, email, address, phone or date of birth (about 120,000 with email), and about 1.68 million are identifiers that can't identify a person on their own. Nikkei had seen no misuse, system outage or tampering as of Oct 16. TV Tokyo and BS TV Tokyo said the same day that some of their service users may be in the leaked data and are investigating. It's Nikkei's second disclosure this month: on Oct 4 it reported a hijacked Microsoft 365 account that sent about 9,000 spoofed emails and a Google Workspace login that may have exposed 1,646 people's data.
