### Hong Kong exams authority (HKEAA) reports a cyber incident on a system for two international exams: names, birth dates and emails of about 16,900 mainland applicants leaked

The HKEAA says it found the incident on **Oct 29** and reported it to the Hong Kong Police and the privacy commissioner (PCPD) on Oct 30. It mainly involved personal data of about **16,900 people living in mainland China** who applied for two international examinations: names, dates of birth and email addresses.

The affected system serves only a small number of international exams. The HKDSE and most other international exam registration systems are separate, and the HKEAA says there is no evidence they were affected. The cause has not been disclosed. The HKEAA has notified the exam organiser and set up an enquiry hotline (3628 8787).
