### CenterPoint Energy breach hit about 1.06 million Texans, including SSNs and driver's license numbers

A data breach report CenterPoint Energy filed with the Texas Attorney General's office, published Oct 13, lists 1,062,060 affected Texans. The listed data types are names, addresses, Social Security numbers and driver's license numbers, and the filing showed consumers had not yet been notified. CenterPoint first acknowledged the incident in September after a third party claimed online to have customer data. In an Oct 14 statement the company said it is still working with outside experts to determine which customers will be notified and that electric and gas service was not affected. How the attackers got in has not been disclosed.
